Larry R. Sechler, 61, of Broadway Street, Turbotville passed away Thursday morning, June 26, 2008, at his home following a courageous 2 A½ year battle with cancer.

Born May 1, 1947 in Turbotville, he was the son of Lena C. (Moser) Sechler of Turbotville and the late Robert Earl Sechler who died December 22, 1987. He and his wife, the former Crystal E. Carr would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this Sunday, June 29.

Larry was a 1965 graduate of Warrior Run High School and held an Associates Degree in Diesel Mechanics and Hydraulics from Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport. He was employed at Construction Specialties of Muncy most recently and had worked at the Lewisburg Wal-Mart, and earlier had 28 years at the former International Paper, Lewisburg. Through most of his working years he was also a self-employed excavator. Earlier in his life he worked at the former Williamson’s Meat Market in Turbotville. He was a life member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville.

Larry enjoyed collecting die cast tractors and cars, train sets and bear items. He also enjoyed hunting, especially archery hunting. But the times he cherished most were those spent with his grandchildren. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great-grandchild due in September.

Surviving besides his wife and mother are a daughter, Desiree A. Nicholas and her companion, Roger Rovenolt of Mill Street, Watsontown; a son, Michael A. Sechler, Turbotville; three grandchildren: Kathleen Anspach and her husband Timothy, Brian Nicholas, currently serving with the National Guard in Afghanistan, and Samantha Nicholas; a brother and sister-in-law: Ronald E. and Kathleen Sechler, Turbotville; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Shirley A.S. and Edward Prosser, Elizabethtown and Gloria E. and William Appleman, Turbotville.
