Leon Eugene Cooke, age 77, of Greensboro, NC quietly transitioned to his eternal resting place on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Leon was born July 9, 1944, in High Point, North Carolina to the late Lewis Cook and Beulah Neely Cook.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Loretta Lemons Cooke. In addition to his wife, three brothers, Lewis David Cook Jr., Walter Cook, and Willie Lee Cook, four sisters, Lillie Mae C. McLendon, Jean C. McInnis,Barbara Ann C. Evans, and Frances Cook.

Leon was educated in High Point City Schools. He was a retired concrete contractor for over 40 years. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and family members. He was a conscientious member of the community and was active in his local neighborhood watch. Leon lived a long, prosperous and fruitful life by keeping Jesus in his heart.

Leon is survived by daughters, Lenora Cooke of Greensboro, NC, Bessie Cooke Givens (Troy) of Durham, NC; sons, Eugene Cooke (Tanisha) of Greensboro, NC, and Walter Ray Cooke of Greensboro, NC; grandsons, Evander Cooke (LaToya) of Greensboro, NC, Quentin Givens of Durham, NC, Christian Smitherman of Greensboro, NC; granddaughter, Kyla Cooke of Greensboro, NC; step great granddaughters, Sharae Ellerbee and Maia Martin of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Linda C. Hodnett, (Dodge) of Greensboro, NC, Josephine C. Hayes, and Shirley C. Griffin, of High Point, NC; sisters-in-law, Mattie Lemons of Cleveland, OH, Doris Bradley (Walter) of Atlanta, GA; a special niece, Paulette Gladney, of Greensboro, NC; special nephews, Larry McInnis of Randleman, NC, and Anthony Nevius of Atlanta, GA, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends.
