Ernest Marceau Sr., 87 years old of Browning, MT, passed away March 2, 2015 from natural causes.

Ernest was born June 24, 1927 in Heart Butte, MT. He started working at a young age as a ranch hand, where he rode his favorite horse, “Brown”. Throughout his life he held many other careers, working for Heart Butte School doing maintenance and custodial work, then as a police officer. He also worked for the railroad, and in 1992 he retired from Blackfeet Head Start.

Ernest was married to Anna Lou Evans at Saint Anne’s Church in Heart Butte. They shared many years together before her passing.

Ernest enjoyed the outdoors, picnics, and being with his family and grandchildren. He also loved to drive his favorite white pick-up truck and eating at Glacier Peaks Casino.

Survivors include his daughters, Ernestine DeRoche, Violet DeRoche, Fern Weasel Tail and Sharon Marceau; sons, Dale “Skeeters” Marceau, George Marceau and Ernest Marceau JR.; sister, Maizie Upham; as well as 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Those who have preceded him in death are his wife, Anna Lou Marceau; brothers, Peter, Joseph, George, Al and Willie Marceau; and sisters, Laura Kipp and Jeannete Thomas.
