Joanna E. Gardner, 88, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away in peace on July 12, 2021. She left this world surrounded by the love of family and while listening to Amazing Grace.

Joanna was born in Nazareth, PA to the late Anthony and Teresa Lizza Martino. She and her husband, Patrick, traveled the world and resided in Kansas City, MO; Paris, France; and Larchmont, NY, before retiring to Florida in 2001.

Joanna was a beautiful woman whose loving heart and radiant smile made everyone feel special. She was a gifted oil painter who taught herself and honed her talent through classes at the Sorbonne and with renowned artist, Alton Tobey. Although painting was her hobby, Joanna was most passionate about her family and she lovingly and patiently attended endless dance recitals, little league games, and golf tournaments.

Her most important lessons to her children were to love and respect all God’s creatures and to be kind and fair to others. She was a parishioner of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, Joanna will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, Joanna was preceded in death by her brother, Angelo Martino, and sisters Mimi Minicozzi and Shirley Price. Her beloved husband of 64 years, Patrick Joseph Gardner, passed away in 2017.

Joanna is survived by her daughters, Diane Lajoie (Roland) of St. Petersburg, FL and Kimberly Gardner (Heather Jackson) of Port St. Lucie, FL; sons Patrick III (Marwa) of Merrick, NY and Stephen (Kelley) of Burlington, VT; grandchildren Maritza Portela (Daniel), Ryan Rosero, and Patrick Yousef, Julie, Adam, and Ally Gardner; sister Anita Dilworth of Southold, NY; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
