Mr. James Alton Person, Sr. was born to the late John Andrew Person, Sr and Agnes Chambers Person on October 18, 1950 in Bensalem Township of Eagle Springs, North Carolina. He departed this life on April 30, 2019 at his home in Louisville, Kentucky.
He attended Moore County Schools, but to leave because of medical reasons. He later continued his education through the Job Core as an engineer operating heavy equipment constructing major highways, dams, and parks throughout the states of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, and Ohio. He was employed by Ohio Operating Engineers (Columbus, OH) and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181(Henderson, KY) for 40 years until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky where he faithfully served for 45 years as the Chairman of Finance, Deacon, Trustee, Church Van Driver, Male Chorus, as well as Deacon Advisor to the Ushers.
He preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Kennedy, Leonard Kennedy, and John Person, Jr.; two grandchild Corey Bradsher and Isis Dockery.
He leaves to cherish his memories for children, Shelby Person, Sr. of Logan, West Virginia, Catherine Dockery of Asheboro, NC, Jamie Bradsher (Chester), Logan, West Virginia, James Person, Jr. of White Plains, K.Y. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Bobby Person (Teresa), Ellerbe, North Carolina, David Person (Gwendolyn) of Eastwood, North Carolina, Adam Person of Eastwood, North Carolina. Two sisters; Agnes Person and Jessie Person both of Eagle Springs, North Carolina. Three uncles, Jimmy Chambers, Homer Chambers (Margaret) and Lee Vander Spencer; Five aunts, Elizabeth Cook, Lois Jean Gillespie (James), Mazerine Chambers, Ruby Chambers, and Sadie Chambers; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Kennedy and Iola Kennedy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
