Zoran R. Kuljis, 72, of Old Saybrook, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Monday, March 21, 2022. Mr. Kuljis was the devoted father of Suncana, Zoran, and Dika, and former husband to the late Nada Kuljis and afterward, to Ann Lenz.

Mr. Kuljis was born in Split, Croatia on January 11, 1950; a son of the late Luka and Sava (Rosandic) Kuljis and younger brother to Dinko Kuljis. He met his first wife, Nada (Katic), as an engineering student at Zagreb University, and within a few years of their marriage, he started working abroad in the nuclear energy industry.

Mr. Kuljis worked as a mechanical engineer for Westinghouse, based out of offices in Connecticut from which he traveled to nuclear powerplants across the world. In his spare time he enjoyed sailing, wood working, and antique furniture restoration. He spent his retirement volunteering in his local community garden and was steward for a local freshwater pond.

Mr. Kuljis is survived by his 3 children: Suncana “Sunny” Gaillot, Zoran Kuljis and his wife, Elaina, and Dika Kuljis. In addition, Mr. Kuljis is survived by his 2 grandchildren, Nadia and Teya.

Mr. Kuljis was predeceased by his parents, Luka and Sava, his first wife, Nada, and his son in law, Michel.
