Zenia (Sadow) Zlotnick, in her 89th year, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 12, 2017, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Mansfield Center. Zenia’s unwavering faith helped her cope with the challenges of Parkinson’s disease for 17 long years and she was especially grateful for the care provided to her by her loving husband, George, and the personal caregivers over the years that allowed her to remain in her home.  She leaves to mourn, her husband of 70 years, George Zlotnick, her son Gregory and her much loved grandsons; Peter and his wife Karyn, Michael, Gregory Jr., as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and family friends. A son Peter and daughter-in-law Kim, predeceased her.  Zenia was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  Introduced to each other by their fathers, Alfred Sadow and Andrew Zlotnick, childhood friends from Minsk, Russia, George and Zenia had their first date at Diana’s Pool, Chaplin, CT. George so impressed Zenia with his cliff diving skills that four days later they were engaged. The Brooklyn, NY native married George on November 15, 1947 and moved to Ashford, CT. She was a gifted pianist, vocalist, cook, hardworking wife and mother, supporting George with the chicken farming and excavation/construction business he started in 1954. She was crowned Connecticut Poultry Lady of the Year in 1958. As their farm and business expanded, so did her family which brought them to Storrs Road, Mansfield, where they remain today in the house that George built.  The Zlotnick Family would like to thank many dear friends, family, Dr. Michael Keenan & HHC Hospice Team who provided wonderful care to Zenia and her family at this difficult time.
