LEOMINSTER – Yvonne Elizabeth (Tourigny) Lancaster-MacKillop, 67, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at HealthAlliance Hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Sterling, the daughter of Homer and Evelyn (LaRose) Tourigny. She was a graduate of Venerini Academy, Worcester, and attended Worcester State University. She won numerous awards for her newspaper column, “From the Heart,” which ran in many local newspapers, some of which were published in an anthology called “From the heart.sketches from life” in 1986. She was also the author of the following books: “Every Step of the Way: How Four Mothers Coped with Child Loss,” and “The Abduction.” She spent her career as a Human Resources professional, finally retiring from Saint-Gobain in 2012.
She is survived by: her husband, Neil Ian MacKillop of Leominster; a daughter, Elizabeth Brisson and her husband, Brian, of Lunenburg; a son, Dr. Timothy Lancaster, Jr., and his wife, Jean, of Wayne, NJ; three sisters, Claire Turcotte of Sterling, Jeannine Reid of Leominster, and Lorraine Cocaine of Port Charlotte, FL; a brother, Robert Tourigny of Buzzards Bay. She was predeceased by a son, Brian Lancaster. She also leaves a step-son, Evan MacKillop of Leominster; and a step-daughter, Gwen Martelock of Clinton, 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
