On September 17, 2018, our beloved Yuma Yano Davis passed away suddenly at our home in Piscataway, New Jersey. It was a joy to share life with him. Yuma was a natural athlete, an enthusiastic trumpet player, an avid music lover, and a creative artist whose beautiful drawings and calligraphy decorate the walls of the people who love him.
He was also a marvelous martial artist who had achieved a level of accomplishment rare for one so young. Yuma began his martial arts training at the age of four under the tutelage of his father and was recognized as a the next generation of masters of Mueiken Kung Fu by Grandmaster Kaneiki-Sensei this past summer in Japan.
Yuma was loved by all who knew him, the light of so many peoples’ lives with his energy, bright smile, positivity, and a golden glow about him that brought joy to his parents and so many others. He demonstrated an inordinate amount of compassion at a very early age, which was evident in his gentleness and kindness. His understanding of others in need was beyond his years.
Yuma was a freshman at Piscataway High School, where he was active in the marching band and planned to join the basketball team. His large and diverse group of friends loved him dearly, for his impact on all who knew him was tremendous, both with the old friends he grew up with and the new friends he met and inspired over the last year. The memories they share will preserve the legacy of this incredible young man.
He is loved without limit and he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his parents Seth and Makiko Yano Davis, grandparents David and Maxine Davis, his Aunt Elana Davis, his Aunt Chiaki Jinnai and his Uncle Ethan Davis and his second family at Ziran Martial Arts in Highland Park and by all who loved him.
