“It’s not that I want to die”, Steve Hogg recently told his grandson, “but if I do, I’ve had a great life.” 87- year-old Y. Stephen Hogg, Jr called Gulf Breeze home for 51 years, but was called to his heavenly home last week as he rested in his recliner (probably watching NCIS reruns or Fox News). After a serious health scare in May he had rebounded, resuming his two mile walks. But it made him take stock of his life that began in Miranda, Cuba. Steve was born May 7, 1928 to Y. Stephen Hogg Sr. and Helen Krewitz Hogg. His dad was a manager of a railroad, and neighbors were the Castro boys. Steve was educated in New Orleans and in high school found life-long friends at Gulf Coast Military Academy. He studied electrical engineering at his beloved Auburn University and was still a season ticket holder. He began a 15-year sales job with Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee, where he met the love of his life, Judy Alexander.
