Wynema Williams Bonham Haldorson, born November 30, 1916, died July 19, 2015 Wynema was born in Amarillo, TX to Anderson and Mattie Williams, number 6 out of seven. Wynema was a remarkable woman known for her loving family, her penchant for making lifelong friends, the mischievous glint in her eye, and a remarkable grace and dignity that was impossible to miss. She lived many places, among them Beverly Hills, where she graduated from high school; Beaumont, CA, where she enjoyed life on a cherry orchard for years with her beloved husband, Albert, and her children, Rob and Julie; Winnipeg; Oceanside, CA; and finally, Newnan, where she remained surrounded by loving family and many new friends. Among her talents were storytelling, her ability to count to ten in an obscure Indian language, dancing, tennis, and leadership. She was the president of the Beaumont Women’s Club for many years. As to the tales she liked to tell…yes, she did work for the Bank of America in Beverly Hills in the 1940’s. And yes, she did meet a lot of famous people that way. However, sometimes one had to raise an eyebrow at her anecdotes of Groucho Marx, Cary Grant, Mickey Rooney, Marilyn Monroe (who lived right down the street!), and Clark Gable, all of whose acquaintances she claimed to have made. This exceptionally attractive young woman was in fact asked to be in a movie at one point. She walked through life with panache and a personality infused with an infectious optimism and humor. Her numerous family and friends could count on her for a sympathetic ear and well-considered advice, backed by the wisdom of her years as time went on. Wynema was always stylish, a true fashion plate. She walked ramrod straight, with the result that she looked the regal, confident, well-turned-out woman that she was right to the end. Wynema is survived by her son, Robert Bonham; her daughter, Julie Bonham Chapman and spouse, Don; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Salyards (and his spouse, Debbie); Jason Salyards; Jon Salyards (and his wife, May), Mercedes Roen (and her spouse, Dave); and Lisa Dawson. Additionally, there is a niece, Ricki, and nephew, Joe, as well as various grand nieces and nephews. She had 14 great-grandchildren. A special thanks to the deserving staff and residents of Wesley Woods for the warmth and sense of community she found there. Gratitude is in order, as well, for the tender loving care provided by Gentiva Hospice. There will be a small service for family.
