Wylean Wanda Campbell, age 92, of Centralia passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 12:40 a.m. in Centralia Manor. Wylean was born on May 26, 1923 in Centralia, the daughter of Thomas and Anna Bell (Washington) Young.
She married William Campbell, Jr. on July 1, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1993. Wylean was a member at Second Baptist Church in Centralia, where she served on the Mother’s Board, was secretary of Women’s League, choir member, Trustee Board member and the Chairman of the Kitchen Committee. She was the secretary of the Women’s Independent Club, member of the Illinois Association of Club Women Southern District, and the Child Welfare Club.
She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as a Nurses Aid and in the sewing room before retirement. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by three sons, Ronnie Campbell and wife Diane of Akron, OH, Michael Campbell and wife Tanya of Long Beach, CA, Jeffrey Campbell and wife Anjie of Peoria, IL; four daughters, Cathleen Garrett and husband Ray of Carson, CA, Paulette Campbell of Savannah, TX, Dr. Kimethria Jackson and husband Aloysius, Sr. of Pauls Valley, OK, Leticia Coleman-Crigler and husband Walter of Riverview, FL; 28 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren;12 great-great grandchildren; one sister Vera Lytle of Centralia, IL, one brother-in-law George Johnson of Hemet, CA; and a host of several other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, William Campbell III; three sisters, Dorothy Young, Gloria Nelson and Ernestine Dunaway, and one brother, Orlando Young.
