Woodrow “Woody” Wilson Lancaster, 85, of 1163 Warren Avenue, Collinsville, VA died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County. He was born on July 6, 1924 in Franklin County, VA to the late Thomas L. Lancaster and Carrie Walters Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mazie Wimmer Lancaster; his second wife, Elsie Manning Lancaster; sister, Ivy Grant and brothers, Roy Dean, Herman, Lee and Taz Lancaster. Mr. Lancaster was a member of Stone Memorial Christian Church for over 40 years. He was a mechanic for E. I. DuPont and retired after 35 years service and served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Lancaster played with the Spiritualairs Quartet over 30 years playing six different instruments. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Gil Stevens Lancaster and Lisa Lancaster of Collinsville, VA and a step-grandchild, Erin Merricks.
