Violet Woodena Colvin (91) was born on Oct. 28, 1925 in DeKalb Co., Indiana. There she graduated from Manchester College in 1947 and in Auburn, Indiana, she taught 4th grade then became the elementary school principal. Woodena married Woodrow W. Colvin in 1963, who she met through a college friend married to Woodrows cousin. They settled in Manassas. Woodrow was quoted as saying that marrying Woodena was the best thing he ever did. Woodena was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society for 38 years. She also was highly involved with the Manassas Church of Brethren, its womens groups, and community. She and Woodrow enjoyed gardening and once he retired, traveling-49 states and Europe. In her spare time, she was an avid cross-stitcher and reader, always an educator.
