Wm. Fred Fisher
Fred Fisher, 74, beloved husband, dad and grandfather passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Ogden Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
He loved his family and his grandchildren adored him. He will be greatly missed.
He was born February 21, 1942 in Ogden, Utah the son of Golden Fisher and Melba Albina Jensen.
Fred married Dixie Frasier on June 17, 1964 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Fred lived in West Point for 64 years and Plain City for 10 years. He graduated from Davis High School in 1960, attended Weber State and graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1967, and graduated from BYU with a Master’s Degree in 1975 and earned an Ed. Specialist degree.
Fred was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to the Southwest British Mission from 1961-1963. He had many callings in the church. He served as Bishop of the West Point 5th Ward, a Bishopric Counselor, Ward Clerk, Young Men and Sunday School Presidencies, Ward and Stake Missionary, and Gospel Doctrine Teacher. He was a West Point City Councilman. He was a teacher at Sunset Jr. High School for 13 years, a Counselor at Davis High School for 25 years, and worked at Moweda Youth Home for many years.
Fred loved doing genealogy and made many family history books. He was a true Davis Dart. He did the score book and time clock for Davis High basketball games for more than 25 years and ran the time clock for football games. Fred loved to watch and support his grandkids in their sporting, dancing, and other activities. He loved growing a garden and spent many hours taking care of it. He loved traveling with Dixie and they saw many beautiful places in the world.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie Fisher, son Corey F. (Angie) Fisher, three grandchildren, Jarret, Kinley and Liveah Fisher, sister, Joanne George, step-brothers Brent (Ruthann) Youngberg and Gary (Della) Youngberg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Becky Fisher, sister, Barbara Hunt, in-laws, Howard & Ada Frasier, brothers-in-law, Jim Waldorf, and Skip Davis, niece, Lesley Downey, nephew, Glenn Evans and step-mother, Louise Youngberg Fisher.
