Winifred Ann Foy Momsen, age 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 18, 2016.

Wini, as she was affectionately known, was born in Grant County and grew up in Central, New Mexico, the youngest of four children. She attended St. Mary’s Academy in Silver City, New Mexico; Loretto Academy in El Paso, Texas; and Webster College in St. Louis, Missouri, with her lifelong friend Carol Fowler Pearson. Wini was a proud graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso at the age of 60. Wini will be remembered as a vibrant, active member of the Democratic Party. She served as the Precinct Chair #75 (Radford School) in El Paso; she was a member of the Board of the El Paso Historical Society; she served on the Public Utility Regulation Board; and she was a realtor with the Dennis Wagner Co. & the Holder Company. Wini was an acting member of the El Paso Play House, a member of the El Paso Symphony (Violin) & a lifelong member of the Symphony Guild. Wini served as Chairwoman of the Grant County Democratic Party, and was a member of the Grant County Subdivision Board. She was a Sustainer Emeritus of the Junior League of El Paso, a member of the Bayard Lions Club and of the Copper Cow Bells. Wini delighted in hosting the annual family reunion and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her brother Franey Foy, her eight children: Peter Momsen, Alline Healy (Dennis), Mike Momsen (Wanda), David Momsen, Mark Momsen (Richarda), Patrick Momsen (Ellen), Alyssa Russell (Robert), & Anne Momsen. She leaves 18 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren & many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Gus Peter Momsen III, her parents, Tom & Mary Foy, her brother Thomas P. Foy and her sister Rosemary Foy Stewart
