Wilma L. Rodgers, 79, of Jacksonville, died Sept. 3, 2011, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
She was born Nov. 14, 1931, in Jacksonville, the daughter of John M. and Leta Rogers Spradlin. She married Gean O. Rodgers on April 15, 1950, in Franklin and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2005.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Michael Rodgers of Springfield, David (Dixie) Rodgers of Wichita Falls, TX, Tim Rodgers of Union Point, GA and Lu Anne (Steve) Murphy of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Eric) Holmes and Daniel (Patty) Murphy, both of Winchester, and Madison and Mark Rodgers, both of Union Point, GA; five great-grandchildren; four brothers and one sister, John (Shirley) Spradlin of Jacksonville, Lee (Leona) Spradlin of Springfield, Lisle (Mary Ruth) Spradlin of Jacksonville, Gordon (Barbara) Spradlin of Pittsfield and Sue (Fred) Walker of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Murl Spradlin, Lyndal Spradlin (surviving wife Charlene of Torrence, CA) and Charles Spradlin at birth.
Mrs. Rodgers was a 1948 graduate of Franklin High School. She and her husband owned and operated Rodgers Upholstery for 25 years until her retirement in 2007. Wilma was a member of Franklin United Methodist Church and American Sewing Guild, and she enjoyed attending Bible Study. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
