Wilma J. Putskey, age 85, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Arborview Court in Wisconsin Rapids.
Wilma was born March 17, 1936 in Westfield, WI to Theodore and Celia (Poff) Buschke. She married Everett Putskey on May 25, 1957. The marriage ended in divorce.
She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a degree in elementary education. She taught first grade at Humke Elementary School in Nekoosa, WI for over 30 years.
Wilma enjoyed quilting and crocheting and loved feeding and watching the birds. She had an extensive collection of bird figurines. Being a school teacher, she loved to travel with her family to places of historical significance. One of her favorite trips was to Washington D.C. and Gettysburg.
Wilma is survived by her son, Thomas Putskey (Laurie Shearier) of Wisconsin Rapids; two grandsons: Thomas Putskey II and Ryan Putskey both of Milwaukee; two sisters: Verla Henke-Bengsch and Neoma Schwersenska both of Westfield; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Everett Putskey; significant others: Harold Koth and James Fitzgerald; sister, Stella Goldsmith; and brother-in-law, Gerhardt Henke.
