Wilma Haupert, age 94, of Algona, died on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Wilma Catherine Augustine, the daughter of Gregory and Othilia C. (Kuhle) Augustine, was born on July 4, 1918 in Geddes, South Dakota. She graduated from Geddes High School, 1936, and was united in marriage to Walter Haupert of Bancroft on Oct. 17, 1944. Wilma worked as a bookkeeper for the Bancroft Register and retired in 1977. Until her death, Wilma was an active member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, a retired volunteer of the Kossuth Regional Health Center Auxiliary, the Seton hot lunch program, Dimension II and retired and senior volunteer programs. Wilma kept herself busy playing cards, going to the casino, fishing, bird watching, bowling, traveling with family, gardening and being “Grandma” to many nieces and nephews. Left to cherish Wilma’s memory is a sister, Lorraine Vaske of Algona and a sister-in-law, Delores Augustine of Cresco, Iowa, She was a favorite aunt to many loving nieces and nephews. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter in Sept. 1991; sisters, Vera Delaney, Luella Richter and Rose Kingsley, and brothers, Linus and Gregory Augustine. She will be greatly missed.
