Willie Mathis Stubbs was born in Abbeville, Alabama to the late James Stubbs and Lilly Mae Brown 3 April 1930.
His parents, brothers, Robert Lee Stubbs, James Henry Stubbs, Paul Henry Stubbs and sister, Lillian M. Bellamy preceded him in death.
Willie graduated from Asbury Speight High School in 1949 in Fort Gaines, Georgia and moved to Newark, New Jersey. In 1950, he joined the Air Force and served twenty years as military policemen.

He was known as Uncle “B.B.”, Baby Boy by his many nieces and nephews.
He loved his family and friends. After his health failed he enjoyed sitting in his lounge chair watching TV.
Mr. Willie Mathis Stubbs joined Galilee Missionary Baptist in 2001, under Pastor Fitzhugh Lee Lyons, Sr.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Doris J. Stubbs; sons, Webster (Peggy)Stubbs, Ronald Stubbs, Donald Stubbs and Christopher Stubbs; daughters, Barbara Smith, Anita Henderson and Beverly Claiborne (Cary); stepdaughters, Lisa R. Stutts (Ben) and Jabana L. Simmons (Alvin); thirty-four grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
