Willie L. Cox, 73, of Ashland, IL died Monday, January 4, 2016, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
He was born May 25, 1942 in Virginia, IL, the son of Ray and Dimple Brown Cox.
He is survived by his son, Randy Cox (fiancé, Julie Rector) of New Berlin; his companion, Diane Riley of Ashland; his sister, Joyce Hunt of Morton; two nieces; two nephews; and his former wife, Donna Cox of Pleasant Plains. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Willie was a graduate of Pleasant Plains High School and was a talented craftsman who provided handyman services in the Ashland area. More recently, he worked as a member of the Springfield Laborers Local #477. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.
