Burlington- Willie James Reid, Jr. “Sleepy”, 89, transitioned on June 15, 2022, at home. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Leola Mapp Reid. He was the son of the late James Reid, Sr. and Bertha Upsher Reid. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Vickie R. Corbett (Calvin) of Greensboro; three sons, James L. Reid, III of Burlington, Kirk A. Reid (Heylin) of Nicaragua, and Burke M. Reid of Sedalia; one sister, Bertha Mae Madden of Greensboro; one sister-in-law, Dorothy M. Oliver of Burlington; a host of nieces and nephews; and his most precious gifts, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After many decades of working as a truck driver/switcher, he retired from Old Dominion Freight Line. He later owned and operated Reid Trucking Company. He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed telling others about his love for Jesus Christ.
