Mrs. Vanhook passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at a local hospital.
Willie Beatrice Vanhook was born September 26, 1923 in Robinsonville, Mississippi. She was the third of seven children born to the union of Daniel Webster and Laura Smith. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the family pastor in a small lake. Bea, as she would fondly be called by family and friends, received her formal education within the public school system of Robinsonville, Mississippi.
Bea met and married Carl Vanhook in 1964. She loved to sew and worked as a seamstress at a factory in Los Angeles. She continued her sewing by altering clothing for family members and friends. Bea always had her sewing machine close at hand. She enjoyed cooking and made the best gumbo in town. Her sense of humor could not be matched; she was funny and kept you laughing. She was a very caring and loving person who cared about everyone.
After the death of her husband Carl, Bea relocated to San Diego, California to be closer to her siblings.
On Friday, January 25, 2013, after a short illness, Bea was called home from her earthly journey. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brother, Herman Webster and sister, Laura Monroe.
Beatrice leaves to mourn her homegoing, her sisters, Jessie Webb, Lelia Sharpe, Alma Webb and Lettie Wilson all of San Diego, California; stepchildren, Louise Bray (Roderick); Carl Edward Vanhook, Jr., Jeanette Hubbard, Joyce Conner (Michael) all of Los Angeles, California; eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
