William “Willie” J. Lutz, Jr., age 72, of Salem, died 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 at his home. He was born December 7, 1944 in Gaffney, South Carolina the son of the late William J. and Dorothy Jane (McGuinn) Lutz Sr. Bill worked for 24 years for the U. S. Postal Service as a clerk/carrier for the Salem, Austintown and Youngstown Post Offices. He previously worked 6 years at the former Gold Cross Ambulance as an EMT, an industrial arts teacher at West Branch Junior High School and as an architectural engineer for Edward J. Debartolo Company. Bill was a 1962 graduate of Salem High School and Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Bill was a member of the Salem AmVets Post 45 and the Salem Club. During the Vietnam War he served in the United State Air Force.
Survivors include 4 sons, Steven Lutz of Atlanta, Georgia, Jeffrey “George” (Laura) Lutz of Detroit, Michigan, Joe (Tessie) Lutz of Lisbon and Robert (Stephanie) Lutz of Salem; a sister, Patricia Lutz of Salem; 2 brothers, Donald G. (Anne) Lutz and Danny M. Lutz of Salem; 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and his beloved dog, Maggie.
A brother, James “Muck” Michael Lutz, a sister, Linda G. Lutz and a grandson, Jack Lutz also preceded him in death.
