William VanderLaan, age 84, of Arnolds Park, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011, at his home in Arnolds Park. He was born on December 29, 1926, in Holland, to John and Johanna (Heemskerk) VanderLaan. Bill worked for John Morrell for 33 years before retiring in 1983. He also owned and operated Vans Inn for 20 years in Arnolds Park. Bill was an active fireman for 37 years and enjoyed spending his spare time fishing, golfing, riding his bike and building bird houses. Bill was united in marriage to Ann Musarra on February 14, 1994, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bill is survived by his wife, Ann VanderLaan of Arnolds Park.
