William T. McDermott 92 of Bayville, NJ died on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Tall Woods Care Center, Bayville, NJ. He was a long-time resident of Audubon, NJ, and lived in Whiting, NJ before moving to Bayville 4 years ago.
William was a US Army Air Corps Veteran serving in World War II; he became a prisoner of war in Germany after his plane was shot down. He received the Purple Heart and the Air Medal and was a member of the Ocean County Ex pows. Bill worked for the US Government as a Customs Agent out of Philadelphia, Pa. Bill was always well known as a gentleman and kind and loving man to all who knew him. He was a devoted fan of the Phillies and the Eagles.
Predeceased by his beloved wife June, he is survived by his two daughters Caren and her husband Kenneth Hess of Bayville, and Carol and her husband Dr. Thomas Luedeke of Florida. 4 Grandchildren Kenneth and his wife Michele, William and his wife Ann Marie, Carrie and her husband Jon, and Laura and her husband Alex. 7 Great Grandchildren Kellen William, Alison, Maren, Owen, Alex, Arron, and Carlyn.
