William Rudolph Swearingen, age 73, of Marianna, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008 in Jackson Hospital. He was born in Jackson County and was a life long resident of this area. Mr. Swearingen was of the Assembly of God faith and loved gospel music. His favorite past times were fishing and cooking out with friends and family. He worked for his brother J. D. for over 50 years in the farm equipment business. It was his life. Mr. Swearingen was a kind and loving person who never met a stranger and loved and cherished his family. He was a honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel A. and Leola Swearingen, sister Evelyn Smith and his brothers Luther Swearingen, Doyle Swearingen and M. L. Swearingen. Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, JoAnn Swearingen, his sons; Robby “Rob” Swearingen, Tony Swearingen and wife, Patsy all of Marianna and Larry Swearingen and wife, Stella of Alaska; a daughter Vanessa Thompson of Dothan, one brother J. D. Swearingen of Marianna, grandchildren; Jessica Rudd, Erica Thompson, Sherry Farmer and husband, Bryan, T. J. Swearingen, Caitlynne Swearingen Samantha Rudd and great grandchild, Colton Farmer. He loved his in laws Levin and Gail Lord of Ft. Walton Beach, Stan and Paulette Brock of Orlando, Gloria Melvin and Gary Brock of Marianna and special friends Justin Mitchell, Carl Sullivan and Scott and Janice Williams.
