William Stavros, 85, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away on June 1, 2021.
William (Bill) was born on March 15, 1936, in Lowell, MA to the late Emanuel and Mary Stavropoulos. He married the love of his life, Phyllis on November 19, 1959.
Spending time in the woods hunting for deer and Canadian Geese, or on the ocean waters of Maine fishing for Stripers and Mackerel were two of his favorite pastimes. He could never pass up a game of Cribbage or Poker with his cronies from Auto Snack.
He and Phyllis traveled to Africa, Australia, Greece, and around the country enjoying the outdoors, golfing, and meeting friends along the way.
Bill was an exceptional business owner. He had an outstanding gift to talk and joke with anyone who crossed his path; this helped in growing his company for over 50 years. Auto Snack Caterers, inc. was sold 15 years ago and Bill stayed hands-on until the sale.
For the past 20+ years, Bill has split his time between the family home in Biddeford, ME, and in the golf community of Port St. Lucie West in Florida. There, he enjoyed playing rounds of golf, bocci, poker, and socializing with friends.
If you asked anyone who met him, they would say that Bill was an exceedingly generous man. From delivering food to those in need for Meals on Wheels to fulfilling kids’ Angel Tree wishes around Christmastime, he just could not say no to anyone who asked for help.
He is preceded in death by his son Douglas Stavros; siblings, Louis Stavros, Christopher Stavros, Francis Makos, Ellen Pentedemos.
William is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Phyllis Stavros; Daughter Dianna Stavros; grandchildren, Olivia Stavros-Tracy, Nicholas Stavros, Kyle Tracy, and Jocelyn Stavros; sibling, Virginia Kidder (100), and many loving nephews, nieces, and friends.
