William Bill Sramek, 88, of 311 Cross St., Peru, died at 3:58 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru, after a brief illness. He was born December 15, 1918 in Streator to Joseph and Antonia Sramek. He owned Bills Barbershop in Peru, and then Srameks Tap in Peru until retirement. He was a graduate of the Chicago Barber College in 1949.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant for the 131st infantry and with the Supreme Headquarter Allied Command Expeditionary Force in the European Theatre. He married Luella Ella Roth on June 8, 1946 in St. Josephs Church, Peru. He was a member of St. Josephs Church; the VFW; the American Legion; and he coached Peru Little League Baseball for many years.
He is survived by: his wife, Luella Ella Sramek of Peru; 1 son, William (Katherine) Sramek of Peru; 2 daughters, Mary Ellen (Earl) Lieske of Ottawa, and Kathy (Marty) Rossi of Los Angeles, California; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; and 1 sister, Josephine Hoge of Streator. He was preceded by: 1 son, Dennis Sramek; 4 brothers; and 5 sisters.
