William James SmithAge 92 of Owosso passed away Monday, December 6, 2021.William was born May 30, 1929 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Carmen and Helen (Cortright) attended Lansing Eastern High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1946-1948.William was an avid member at the American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.William was employed as the garage supervisor for Consumers Energy in Lansing. On June 19, 1975 he married Viola Paulino, they had 34 years together. After retirement in 1985, he and Vi spent their winters in Florida, where he was affectionately called “Wild Bill” by his many friends. He enjoyed fishing and especially liked spending time with his friends and staff at The Meadows of Owosso.William is survived by his daughters: Marsha (James) Horak, Rebecca (Dr. Timothy) Atkinson, Joann (Beth) Smith and two step-daughters Brenda Gordon and Judy Ernst; sister, Betty (Nick) Ferrero; 5 grandchildren, Travis (Sue) Jones, Lance (Deborah) Jones, Timothy Guy (Rebekah) Atkinson Joshua (Amanda) Atkinson, Jeanne (Will) Lindquist; 17 was predeceased by his parents Carmen and Helen Smith, his wife, Viola; sister, Donna (Gary) Jorgensen and brother Tony (Audrey) Smith.
