William S. Smith Sr. “Bill and PaPa”, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 17, 2010. He was preceded in death by his mother Minnie Lee Champion Smith and Egbert Smith. He was born in Pascagoula MS, and moved to Birmingham at a young age, later moved to Columbia SC at the age of 5 where he grew up and attended school. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and a mason. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Mr. Smith was a structural engineer for several companies and coached Youth Football at Center Point Ball Park. He will be missed by his family and friends: wife, Evelyn of 45 years, children Leigh Duke (Dennis), William S. Smith Jr.”Bubba” (Jessica), sister Terese Smith Costabile (Mark), grandchildren Greg, Chris, Austin, Ayden and Andrew. Services will be Tuesday Sept.
