William “Rooster” Forte

June 16, 1963 – November 9, 2020

William “Rooster” Forte, 57 of Sheridan, Arkansas passed away from this life into his eternal life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 9, 2020.

Rooster was born on June 16, 1963 to the late Ann Forte and Patrick Forte of Sheridan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Laura Ann Reddin and Melissa Lee Caster, and his uncle, Michael Dan Forte, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his uncles Matthew (Janis) Forte, Charles Thomason, aunts Bekky Forte and Linda Gene Solano of Pine Bluff; cousin, caregiver, and “Head Nurse” as Rooster called him, Ben (Julie) Forte, Lisa (Wayne) Forte, Michelle Metzger, Shelby (Marcus) Fleming, Dalton Forte, Zack Reynolds and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his “Honorary Family” Ronnie Joe and Kayle Vance, whom he loved so much.

Rooster was employed by Perkins Fire Pro until his health prevented him from working. Rooster was a natural job leader. He believed in giving the job all he had and if you worked with him you were expected to do the same. When rheumatoid arthritis attacked his poor body, he did not go down quietly. He got up and did anything he could do to keep moving, this might mean raking leaves on the family 40 acres for days on end, which usually led to a fire that it was always questionable if it was safe. His motto he inherited from his Uncle Mike, “It’s not going anywhere”. He loved to work in the garden with Ben and watch Nascar with his Sunday family. He simply refused to give up.

He had a love for playing pranks. If you could not take a prank, you wouldn’t make it in his world. Things like putting out rubber snakes where he knew you walked every day or making you wear is favorite NASCAR number (#22) when you lost the bet. He definitely made life more fun.

Although we have never been to Heaven, his family got a glimpse of it about 3:10 Monday am, for the first time in a long time we saw nothing but peace on Rooster’s face. No more pain, no more tears, no more goodbyes, he was truly at peace. We will miss him so very much, but we are so glad that he is no longer hurting. He is in Heaven with his loved ones, probably raking leaves by now and starting fires where he’s not supposed to- that is the only way he knows to do it!
