William Ronald Jeffreys, 76, of O’Fallon, IL, born Saturday, January 24, 1942 in Alton, IL passed away at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Bill was a member of the Belleville Racing Pigeon Club. He loved his job as a graphic artist.

His favorite position was teaching at Beck Vocational School. Bill was very creative. He loved working with his hands and tools, carpentry, writing poetry and short stories, and photography. He enjoyed computers, spending time in his garden and yard, fishing with his grandson, watching old westerns, reading non-fiction books, but more than anything else, he enjoyed being a papa to his three grandchildren. He had a huge heart and volunteered for Uni-Press Kindercottage in East St. Louis, National Alliance on Mental Illness of Southwestern Illinois, and in his grandchildrens’ classrooms.

Bill will be remembered for his wonderful dry and goofy sense of humor. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elsie Jeffreys, nee Harness; son, Timothy Jeffreys; brother, Charles Jr. Jeffreys; and sister-in-law, Deanie Jeffreys. Surviving are his loving wife, Florence Jeffreys, nee Besher; three children, Kevin Jeffreys of Hardin, IL, Kelly (Mike) Neighbors of Shiloh, IL, Kim Klemp of Jonesboro, IL; niece, Pam (Bruce) Stewart of Louisville, KY; nephew, Chris (Julie) Jeffreys of Jerseyville, IL; three grandchildren, Austin Klemp, Braden Neighbors, and Liliana Neighbors.
