William Ray Howard entered this world on January 18, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He left this world and grieving family behind on December 3, 2021 at the age of 70 at IU West.   Bill will be remembered for many things, however, most notably for his mechanical skills and musical talent.  Before his retirement years Bill was a transmission builder at his business Affordable Automatics on the south side of Indianapolis. He provided transmissions for people needing personal, work vehicles and race cars.  Fulfilling his business card tagline “from mild to wild” Bill always helped someone in need, whether he knew them or not, in whatever way he could.  Bill enjoyed playing music of all genres; however, southern gospel was his favorite these last few years. Bill was most noted for his pedal steel and guitar playing.

He is survived by his mother Helen, spouse Jill; Brothers Gary (Shirley), Jack (Judy); Daughters Cheryl (fiancé James Taylor), Karen (Darrell) and Amy.  Bill is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He had numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved. He also leaves behind his fur babies Bonnie and Clyde. Bill was preceded in passing by his father Ferris, brothers Joe and Terry.
