William R. Slepsky, 82, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009, at his home in Atlantic.

William Raymond Slepsky was born July 26, 1926, in Campbell, Ohio, the son of John and Carolyn (Tekach) Slepsky.

Bill attended two years of seminary school before graduating from high school. He entered the U. S. Navy in 1945, and attended naval training at Great Lakes Naval Academy. Bill spent two years serving on the minesweeper, USS Ptarmigan, in the Pacific.

He married Isabel Barnett and five children were born, Gregory, Charlotte, Mark, Cheryl and Gary Slepsky. They lived in Ohio for over 30 years.

Bill worked for Gould, Clevite, and Imperial Clevite and in 1979 he moved to Atlantic, Iowa, opening a new plant there. He developed the procedure manual and was building supervisor of what is currently, Mahle Engine Components. He retired in 1990.

In 1981, Bill and Margaret (Emmert) Hopley were married.
