William R. “Bill” Boyd, 78, passed away Monday Oct. 12, 2015 in Indianapolis.
He was a resident of Nineveh.
Bill was born Jan. 25, 1937 in Steubenville, Ohio to Walter and Mary (Dunay) Boyd.
He married Judith A. Bartlett on Dec.16,1961 in Amarillo, Texas; they were married for 53 years.
Bill was a 20 year career Air Force veteran. He served during in the Vietnam Conflict and was stationed in North Africa, Morocco, off the coast of the South China Sea and Hawaii, where he received a bronze star and joint service accommodation medal. He retired in 1974 from the Air Force. In 1975 he became employed with Atterbury Job Corp as a logistics manager until retiring in 2005 after 30 years of service.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved cooking for friends and family. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 233 in Edinburgh and Nineveh Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Boyd of Nineveh, two children, Layman (Leisa) Boyd of Nineveh and Virginia (Jeff) Prairie of Franklin, two sisters , Maryann Thorne of Ohio and Jeanie Tintsman of Pennsylvania, six grandchildren, Rachael Prairie, Lindsey Asher, Logan Boyd, Heather Prairie, Sarah Prairie Walls and Michael Bowling and six great-grandchildren, Trinity Goforth, Tadeum Goforth, Druella Asher, Lucas Prairie, Samantha Walls and Emily Bowling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Walter Boyd and Robert Boyd.
