William Paul Plymale, 85, of Glen Allen, VA., formerly of Grafton, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Inpatient Hospice at Retreat Hospital Richmond, VA after a brief illness. He was born November 1, 1932 in Grafton, son of the late Earl and Allie Seargent Plymale. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty J.

(Griffith) Plymale.

William was in the United States Coast Guard. He worked for more than 30 years for Master Builders in Cleveland, Ohio and Springfield, Missouri before retiring in Richmond VA.

He is survived by two children, Karen J. Zavilla and her husband Jeff, Hanover, PA., Robert E. Plymale and his wife Debra, Richmond, VA.; two grandchildren, Joseph Zavilla and Alex Zavilla;  Brothers-in Law, Sisters in Law and many nieces and nephews.  He was loved by all.

William enjoyed spending time with his family, vacations at the beach and cruises. Papa had a special relationship with both of his grandsons. He also enjoyed going to the Richmond Spiders Football, Men,s Basketball and Women’s basketball games with his son Robert. They held season tickets for over 25 years and they rarely missed a game. He also really enjoyed the home cooked meals his daughter-in law, Debra made him throughout the years.

William spent the early years of his retirement playing golf. He was also a very active bowler. He was participated in three different leagues Young at Heart, Easy Does it and 55 Plus, serving as president for two of the leagues. He bowled till the end of July and will be missed by his teammates and fellow league members.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Frey and one brother Earl.
