William P. Kean, age 84, of Rome, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2013
He was born May 16, 1928, in Albany, a son of Andrew J., Sr. and Belle C. Reilly Kean, and educated in Albany schools. Bill was united in marriage to the former Eleanor R. Rosenberger, on June 10, 1950, at Sacred Heart Church in Watervliet, NY; she died February 6, 1999. He worked as an account clerk at the Rome CNYDSO, retiring in 1983 after 37 years of service. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Bill was very active in the community and was a member of many clubs and organizations, including the Holy Name Society of St. Mary’s Church, Rome Elks, Rome VFW, Smith Post, American Legion, Stanwix Veterans and Men’s Club and the Eagles Club. In his spare time, Bill could always be found playing his favorite sport; golf.
Bill is survived by two daughters and son in law, Elizabeth Kean and Willis Horth of Rome, and Margaret and Michael Schutten of Rotterdam; grandchildren, Daniel R. Schutten and Michelle E. Schutten; a sister in law, Beverly Yanni Kean of Albany; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew J. Kean, Jr.
