Obituary of William McCorkhill

Age 89, of West St. Paul

Preceded in death by parents, Hilda and Harold McCorkhill; brother, James; wife, Alice and great-grandson Logan. Survived by children, Janice (Brian) Marshall, Jean (Allan) Miller, Diane, Glenn, and Tom (Joy) McCorkhill; grandchildren, Jamie, Travis, Ryan, Laura, Katie, Patrick, Duncan and Kenzie; great-grandchildren, Alice, Audrey and Oliver; nieces and nephews, Steve, Scott, Susan, Shelly, David and Paul. Bill graduated from Humboldt High School and attended Hamline University before joining the U.S. Navy in 1945. He served in San Diego, CA, Manhattan and Long Island, New York, and Lakehurst, New Jersey. Following his service with the Navy he attended the St. Paul School of Art and Design. He worked as a commercial artist for RKB studios for many years until opening his own art studio in the 1980’s. His passion was painting and he produced many beautiful pieces of art. He won a variety of awards for his work, including having four of his paintings chosen to become Courage Center Christmas Cards. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who loved trout fishing. He passed his love and respect for the outdoors on to his children. He was a great fan of classical music and often painted to the music of his favorite composers. Bill had a wonderful sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. He will be greatly missed by his family.
