William “Bill” Lyle Shunkwiler, age 72, went home to be with the Lord Friday, March 20, 2015. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1947. Bill joined the Army and became a medic in the Special Forces. After his service in the military, he moved to Houston, Texas. Once there, he was introduced and married to his wife, Mary, in 1980. They moved to Heber Springs in 1989. Bill drove long distance trucks for Woodhaulers for nineteen years. He drove for several other local oilfield related companies, with Union Gaswell Services being the last.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; brother, Art and his wife, Tracy, of Levittow, Pennsylvania; his sister, Nancy Jeffers and her husband, Walter, of Houston, Texas; three daughters: Cheri Harris and her husband, Leland, Athea Shunkwiler, and Tara Shunkwiler; six grandchildren; six nieces; and one nephew.
