William L. Kippes, 82, died peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2016 surrounded by his family.
Born in Akron on April 19, 1933 to the late John and Susan Kippes, William was a lifelong area resident. He married the love of his life Barbara Boehme in 1955. He worked as a machinist for nearly 40 years at Karg Corporation. A proud Navy veteran, William served on the USS Lenawee during the Korean War as a 1st Gunner’s Mate and drove a landing craft during the war. He enjoyed building RC model planes, gardening and going to the rifle range. William loved his grandkids and also his many cats, especially Patches & Butchie. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
William is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; children Michael, Cynthia (Gregory) LaFlame, Sandra (Jeffrey) McCausland, & Brenda (Michael) Kozlowski; grandchildren Kent, Christopher, Melanie, Alan, Caitlyn, Tarah, & Kristen; as well as many loving nieces, nephews & other relatives.
