William John Lavonis, 88, a resident of St. Paul’s Retirement Community in South Bend, and formerly of Mt. Holly, NJ, died on Thursday, August 18, 2005, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, surrounded by his family.
“Bill” was born on April 16, 1917, in Reading, PA. On April 18, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, he married Rose Pinto, who survives. Along with his loving wife of 62 years, he is survived by his daughter, Sister Margie Lavonis, C.S.C. of Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame; his son William Lavonis of Milwaukee, WI; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosalie James of Pennsylvania.
