COLEBROOK –GRAY – William Jasmin Gray, “Bill,” 93, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. He was the loving husband of the late Jane Clifford (Moore) Gray. Born on Easter Sunday April 12, 1914 in New Haven, CT; the son of the late William Fairfield Gray and Lea Mary (Jasmin) Gray. He was Colebrook’s oldest resident having moved here in 1924. He served in the Army as an Armoured Engineer during World War II. His employment included his family farm, the Town of Colebrook and he retired from his own trucking business in 1982. He also worked for 22 years at Hudson Wire Company, Lossin Brothers Construction Co. and for many local families serving in various capacities. He along with his family raised Herefords for many years. Bill was a founding member and the first Vice President of The Colebrook Center Volunteer Fire Dept. serving until his retirement and was a Forest Fire Warden for many years. He also served as President, Vice President and Sexton of The Colebrook Burying Ground Association. He was a member of the Colebrook Historical Society and The Winsted United Methodist Church. He is survived by his children, Delmar Gray and his wife Helen, Deborah Stickney and her husband Larry; a brother, Edward W. Gray; 7 grandchildren, Adam K. Gray and his wife Jada, Scott W. Gray and his wife Diana, Beth Leah Craig and her husband Michael, Richard Gray, Randolph W. Stickney, Korey S. Stickney and his wife Julia and Clifford L. Stickney and his wife Jennifer; 7 great grandchildren, Ryan, Chelsea, Jacob and Andrew Gray, Devan Bivens and Gabrielle Craig and Drew Stickney; many nieces, nephews, extended families and friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela J.; a son, Richard W.; and two brothers, Walter J. and George J. Gray.
