William J. Sabino, 86, of North Branford passed away peacefully at the St. Raphael’s Campus of Yale NH Hospital on Feb. 24, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in New Haven June 26, 1931, son of the late Louis and Rose Civitello Sabino. He attended school in New Haven and graduated from Hillhouse High School. He served honorably in the US Navy during the Korean War. His career included many years in the automotive industry. He worked as a driver for the Journal Courier and a maintenance supervisor for the New Haven Boys and Girls Club. He was active in American Legion Post 83 and was a member of the American Amateur Boxing Association. He coached the Boys and Girls Club boxing team for thirteen years and was coach for the CT Contingent Team at New England Golden Gloves Tournament. He was a devoted fan of boxing, the New York Giants and the UCONN women’s basketball teams.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie Borelli Sabino; his children, Karen (Daniel) Landino of North Branford and Lisa M. Aurora of Meriden. his grandchildren, DanaMarie and Daniel Landino of North Branford and Stacee (Chris) Helms of Meriden; and great grandchildren, Olivia, Fiona and Gia Helms of Meriden. The family would like to thank the staff of Medical ICU and Verdi 3 East at the St. Raphael’s Campus for their exceptional and compassionate care. Also for the excellent care given to Bill over many years by the following doctors: Dr. Purush, Dr. M. Kasper, Dr. R. Morrison, Dr. J. Hansson, Dr. K. Twohig and Dr. M. Blitzer.
