William Crandall, age 76, of Algona, died on Saturday January 5, 2013 at his home. William Joseph Crandall, the son of Gerald William and Karen (Carlsen) Crandall, was born on July 20, 1936 in Hampton, Iowa. He graduated from Eldora High School in 1955. Bill served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 – 58. On October 12, 1974 Bill was united in marriage with Elizabeth “Betty” Koppen in Algona. He was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Alcoholics Anonymous since Jan. 19, 1980. Bill enjoyed dancing. He met Betty at a dance in Clear Lake. Bill also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, playing cards, woodworking, watching the Hawkeyes and Vikings, and spending time with his family. Left to cherish Bill’s memory is his wife of 38 years, Betty; a son, Jeffrey Crandall and his wife Jana of Little Rock, AR; a daughter, Heidi Kelding of Sac City; a son, Eric Wiltgen and his wife Tania of Algona; a daughter, Stacy Dodds and her husband Ryan of Lone Rock; ten grandchildren, Clay and Chad Crandall of Little Rock, AR, Rylee “Pinky” Anderson of Whittemore, Delaney Kelding of Sac City, Jake Wiltgen of Algona, Alex Dodds, Tyler Dodds and Vanessa Dodds all of Lone Rock, Levi Thompson of Ankeny and Logan Thompson of Whittemore; four great grandchildren, Kayla, Summer, Lillian and Aiden Thompson; and a brother, Albert Charles Crandall and his wife Leone of Eldora. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Zack Purcell.
