William J. “Jerry” Cooper, 71, Anderson, died November 2, 2008 at Seton Specialty Hospital, Indianapolis after a brief illness. He was born October 7, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri and lived in Anderson most of his life.
He retired from Delco-Remy Division of General Motors in 1988. A member of Central Christian Church, he enjoyed playing golf, bowling and trap shooting.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married February 14, 1959, Sandra Heflin Cooper; daughter, Teresa Upton & husband, David of Anderson; daughter-in-law, Kim Cooper of Anderson; two sisters, Susie Sokol & husband, Alex of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Elizabeth Stinson & husband, Don of San Antonio, TX; three grandsons, Tim Cooper, Tyler Upton and Cody Upton, all of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Allen & Clara Gillespie Cooper; a son, Tim Cooper; brother, Bob Cooper and a sister; Clarice Gammon.
