William I. Richardson, 77, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at IU Health Arnett Hospital.  He was born June 20, 1944, in Lafayette to the late William and Eleanor (Roudebush) Richardson.  Bill was raised and worked on the family dairy farm south of Lafayette.  He attended Wea School and graduated from Southwestern High School in 1963.

On October 27, 1962, he married Rachel Daily in Lafayette and she survives.

Bill work at Tractor Supply in Lafayette, Danville, IL and Munice.  He then worked for Fairfield Manufacturing for 34 years and retired in 2006.  After retirement, Bill with his brother, operated the family farm in Lafayette.  The had opened “Richardson Freeze Beef” and had also sold hay.

He had been a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ since 1962.  Bill and Rachel began square dancing in 1983 and then country western dancing with the Country Friends dance group.  Bill enjoyed working on the farm taking care of his cows, traveling with friends, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family.  He had been a volunteer with the Wea Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving along with his wife are his children William Charles (Maggie) Richardson, Michael Wayne Richardson all of Lafayette, grandchildren Billy Richardson, Brandon Richardson, Kyle Richardson, Samantha Roberts, Trevor Richardson, Cierra Richardson, step granddaughter Lindsey Bushong, 11 great grandchildren and his faithful dog Spur.

Also surviving are his siblings Thomas L. (Marilyn) Richardson, Rebecca M. (Gary) Wagner all of Lafayette and Edward M. (Donna) Richardson of Newburgh. William was preceded in death by his son Matthew Dale Richardson and daughter-in-law Angela (Hayes) Richardson
