Design creates culture, culture shapes values. Values determine the future. William I. Kimmey was gentle and generous. He was built from intellect and for speed. He loved jogging and was an armchair Jeopardy Champion. Bill’s greatest talents and effort went into woodworking and furniture building. Every great design begins with an even better story. Mickey Spillaine said; “The most important part of a story is the ending, no one reads a book to get to the middle.”
On Wednesday December 23, 2020 Bill’s story of 79 years came to a close.
His story began in the spring of 1941 on the fool’s day. He spent his formative years in Gloucester City and graduated from Gloucester City High School, class of 1959. For the rest of his years, Bill made his home in Mt. Ephraim and had been a part of the fabric of the community. Bill coached girls softball for 10 years as part of the Mt. Ephraim Youth Athletic Association and had been a member of MEPRI for over 20 years.
Bill worked as an electrician at Owens/Corning in Barrington, later Pfizer in Princeton and enjoyed cheering on all of the hometown sports teams.
Mr. Kimmey is survived by his wife Arlene (nee Allen) Kimmey. He is survived by his children; Jodi & her late husband Bruce Redmer, William & his wife Margo Kimmey, Jr., Douglas Haywood, Skip Haywood and Arlene & her husband Benjamin VanHorn. Bill is the proud grandfather of Timothy and his husband Eric O’Brien, Jesse & his wife Dana O’Brien, Gabrielle Campise and Billy Kimmey. Mr. Kimmey is also survived and will be sadly missed by his sister Gloria & her husband John Dunn as well as many nieces and nephews.
