He was born on June 24, 1932 in York, PA to Frank Ellsworth Gemmill and Hattie Robinson Gemmill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Gemmill and his twin brother Robert Gemmill and a stepson Thomas Rickard. Survivors include his children Cathy Gemmill, William Gemmill, Jr., Pamela Wright and Wilma Korzendorfer; a stepson John Rickard; his siblings Claudia Keister, Ellsworth Gemmill, Phyllis Workman and Wenda Yescavage; his grandchildren Tiffany Gemmill and Bret A. Gemmill; his step-grandchildren Christa Rickard, Mark Rickard, Lori Altimore, Danny Rickard and Leah Rickard and by his great grandchildren Ethan Spagnola and Addison Spagnola.
