William Henry Franklin, 88, of Collinsville, VA died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Blue Ridge Rehab. Center, Martinsville, VA. He was born on June 28, 1923 in Henry County, VA to the late Henry Harrison Franklin and Della O’Brien Franklin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Curry Franklin; sisters, Ruth Franklin Graybill and Ruby Franklin Martin and brothers, Leonard Franklin, James Franklin and Bernard Franklin. Mr. Franklin was a self-employed brick mason. He was of the Baptist faith and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Surviving are his daughters, Wanda Franklin Janey of Collinsville, VA and Karen Franklin Mantel of Suffolk, VA; sons, John William Franklin of Eden, NC and Greg Harrison Franklin of Martinsville, VA; sisters, Mildred Franklin Joyce of Virginia Beach, VA and Aileen Franklin Fleming; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
